Veliancode had longstanding trade and cultural relations with Arabs and Europeans for centuries. In olden days Veliancode was a popular seaport from where Copra (dry coconut), Unakka Meen (dry fish) and Coir products were exported to various part of the world.
In Veliancode Angadi (City), there was Police station, Registrar office, Sessions court and Hajor Kacheri were functioned at the end of 18th century. Now, the Police station, Registrar office and Sessions Court are functioning in Ponnani.
